Inter-plume aerodynamics for gasoline spray collapse

The high-speed movies available in this page are intended to provide support to the manuscripts published at the International Journal of Engine Research entitled “Inter-plume aerodynamics for gasoline spray collapse” and at the SAE World Congress 2017 entitled “A comparison of experimental and modeled velocity in gasoline direct-injection sprays with plume interaction and collapse” by Sphicas et al. The operating conditions for these movies are shown in the table below and the ECN Spray G serial number AV67-028 was used (see ECN Spray G geometry). Other Spray G data including rate of injection, needle lift, and velocity data files produced in this paper is available to download. The axial and radial distances are given in millimeters and the times are with respect to the start of hydraulic injection (ASI) and are given in microseconds (µs). “PIV” is 100 kHz particle imaging with or without velocity vectors overlaid. “DBI” is diffused backlit extinction imaging of liquid. “Mie” is mie-scatter imaging of liquid from the head-on view. Please reference the papers for position and experimental setup information.
