This page contains the Spray M liquid penetration and measured local (3D) extinction (K), which can be related to 3D liquid volume fraction (LVF), as derived from high-speed extinction imaging followed by computed tomography. Liquid Data contains penetration and width data, while 3D Liquid Data contains the .mat (binary matlab) files related to tomography. Data referred to as “Centerline” is data at specific axial distance x-y cut planes, where an average of 45 degree cut planes centered on the original plume has been calculated and plotted vs radial distance from the injector axis. The “plume center” file size data is smaller in size and is available as a separate file in the table at the bottom. Please refer to the powerpoint tutorial and the example code to see definitions and example plotting for each dataset.
The integral quantities below are for projected liquid volume as derived from measured optical thickness and local extinction (K) For the methanol datasets made available below, the following values were used as inputs in the equation displayed. These variable values are given for each individual experiment datasets inside the ‘Scale_values’ variable stored within the matlab file.
