Inter-plume velocity measurements to understand spray collapse when varying injection duration or number of injections

The high-speed movies available in this page or on links below are intended to provide support to the manuscript published in the Atomization and Sprays 2018 Journal entitled “Inter-plume velocity and back-illumination measurements to understand spray collapse when varying injection duration or number of injections” by Sphicas et al. ECN Spray G serial number AV67-028 was used (see ECN Spray G geometry). Other Spray G data including rate of injection, needle lift, and velocity data files are available to download.

A high-speed planar velocity movie (PIV) with two injections (0.780 ms injection, 0.850 ms dwell, 0.280 ms injection) is available to view or download. The axial and radial distances are given in millimeters. The time with respect to the start of hydraulic injection (ASI) is given in microseconds (µs). Please reference the paper for position and experimental setup information.

Movies corresponding to single-injection with the same 0.780 ms injection are also available, including PIV, Diffused Back Illumination (DBI) imaging of liquid, and Mie-scatter imaging of liquid from the head-on view.
