ECN9 is planned for Naples Italy on 8-9 Sept 2023, which falls in between the planned ILASS-Europe meeting in Naples and the SAENA-sponsored ICE2023 in Capri in the same region.

ECN9 Topical areas:

Based upon feedback collected at ECN8 and in months following, we have selected 6 different topical areas for ECN9:

  • Internal nozzle flow
  • Spray development and vaporization
  • Spray-wall interaction
  • Spray combustion
  • Hydrogen injection
  • Battery thermal runaway

We have consolidated previous “gasoline” and “diesel” topics into areas of physical interest, and started new topics in hydrogen and battery safety. We are in the process of surveying ECN participants to select specific injectors and target boundary conditions to feature at ECN9. Please tell us if you expect to have new experimental or CFD research using ECN injectors in these areas, and if you would like to participate in the scientific committees under each topic. In addition to hydrogen, we expect that research using renewable/sustainable liquid fuels will be of interest. We also expect applications within engines and at aviation combustion conditions that fall into these topics.
